Online Workshops | May 11 and 14, 2022
Hosted by the Stanford Historical Society and the Stanford University Archives (Stanford Libraries), History in Community was a two-day conference with the goal of engaging Bay Area communities on the subjects of community history and historical preservation. It provided opportunities for community members and organizations to broaden their knowledge of community history projects, reflect on the unique challenges of documenting local histories, and learn from each other during presentations and informal exchanges.
Featuring practitioners from Stanford and Bay Area partner organizations, the conference included a plenary session, concurrent panels, and historical preservation tours and demonstrations.
Separately, several pre- and post-conference online workshops on archiving and oral history were also conducted.
The conference and the additional online workshops were made possible in part by a grant from the County of Santa Clara’s Historic Grant Program.
