In this interview, J.D. Schramm shares his experiences navigating his identity as a gay man and teaching at Stanford. In particular, he describes coming out to his Catholic family; living through the AIDS epidemic in San Francisco; marrying and starting a family; and being one of the few openly gay faculty members at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. As a lecturer, he recalls starting the LGBT Executive Leadership Program and the university’s handling of the tragic death of three business school students in 2008.
