In this oral history, Dr. Farquhar discusses his early life and education, how WWII impacted his life, and how his interest in science, world events and educational opportunities shaped the choices he made. He recalls his experience mentoring many leaders in the field of heart disease prevention and shares his observations on the growth of the Stanford School of Medicine. He also discusses the research and funding of heart disease prevention within the competitive research environment at Stanford.
