Stanford Historical Society (SHS)

The Stanford Historical Society welcomes everyone with or without Stanford affiliation to become members. The society provides its members and supporters access to the authentic Stanford story, offering opportunities for preserving and sharing the university’s legacy and celebrating its history.

About half of our annual operating budget comes from the university, and the balance comes from membership dues and gifts. Your membership supports our programs, publications, oral history projects, and award programs for Stanford students. Membership benefits include three issues of Sandstone & Tile a year and exclusive invitations to members-only events.
