Open to the public. Registration fees required.
You can choose to register for each day of the conference or each online workshop individually.

Hosted by the Stanford Historical Society and the Stanford University Archives, History in Community is a two-day conference with the goal of engaging Bay Area communities on the subjects of community history and historical preservation. It will provide opportunities for community members and organizations to broaden their knowledge of community history projects, reflect on the unique challenges of documenting local histories, and learn from each other during presentations and informal exchanges.

Featuring practitioners from Stanford and Bay Area partner organizations, the conference will include a plenary session, concurrent panels, and historical preservation tours and demonstrations.

Separately, several pre- and post-conference online workshops on archiving and oral history are also available for registration.

Student scholarships are available by application.

NOTE: If you need a disability-related accommodation or have related questions, please contact the Stanford Historical Society by email: Requests need to be made by April 30, 2022.

The conference and the additional online workshops are made possible in part by a grant from the County of Santa Clara’s Historic Grant Program.
